Car Accident Results in 2 Deaths and the Injury of a Baby

It's tragic when anyone is killed or seriously injured in a car crash, particularly if the victim is a small child. These crashes might happen for a number of different reasons. Drivers may be distracted, trying to avoid another hazard, or simply taking a turn too wide or too close to another vehicle. Earlier this month Georgia authorities responded to a car accident that resulted in the deaths of two adults and the serious injury of a baby. The crash occurred at about 8:20 a.m. The two vehicles, a sedan and a truck, were traveling north and south respectively when witnesses say the sedan cross over the middle line. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing significant damage to the front of both vehicles. Both drivers suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene and the 10-month-old baby traveling with her suffered serious…

Highway Car Accident Results in 1 Death and 2 Injuries

Areas where vehicles enter and exit roadways can be incredibly dangerous if drivers are not careful and aware of their surroundings. Major roadways, like highways and interstates, may be especially dangerous for drivers due to a large number of other vehicles or the higher speeds at which they are traveling. A car accident occurred recently in Georgia that resulted in multiple injuries and the death of one individual. The accident involved two vehicles, a pickup truck traveling southbound and a sedan entering the highway. As the sedan pulled onto the highway, it was struck by the southbound truck. When authorities arrived, they discovered that both of the passengers in the sedan and the driver of the truck were seriously injured. Both drivers were transported by EMA to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. The driver of the truck was admitted in critical condition, and the driver of the sedan was admitted in…

1 Killed, 1 Injured in Car Accident

Head-on collisions are terrifying to imagine, and even more so to be involved in. Not surprisingly, these crashes often result in serious injuries or death. Georgia authorities are currently investigating the underlying cause of one such car accident. The accident involved two vehicles, a northbound car, and a southbound pickup truck. As she approached a curve in the road, the northbound driver crossed over the center line into the southbound lane, where she crashed into the oncoming truck. According to authorities, both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and the airbags functioned properly. They have also stated that they do not think that the crash was alcohol-related. Unfortunately, both drivers suffered serious injuries. The northbound driver suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. Fortunately, the pickup driver survived, though he also suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital in…

Hydroplaning Vehicle Causes Car Accident

Georgia drivers are no strangers to pop-up storms and slippery roads, and most drivers take care to drive slowly when the roads are hazardous. However, sometimes drivers are not as careful as they should be and accidents can occur. Recently a driver hydroplaned on a slippery road and collided with a school bus. This car accident resulted in several injuries and the death of one child. The accident was a head-on collision between a small vehicle and a school bus carrying 19 students, in addition to the bus driver. It occurred on the morning of May 16. While traveling northbound, the car hit a puddle of standing water on the road and hydroplaned. This caused the driver to cross over the center line where it struck the southbound bus. Thankfully, none of the bus passengers were seriously injured. Many, however, did suffer other injuries, including the bus driver. The driver and one of the…

Rainy Day Car Accident Results in a Woman’s Death

Summer is nearly here, and Georgia residents know that with summer come numerous thunderstorms. Pop up showers and day-long storms can make roadways hazardous if drivers are not careful. Last Tuesday, on April 24, slippery roads and a driver's recklessness resulted in a car accident that caused the death of another driver. Reports say that the crash involved three vehicles, two pickup trucks, and an SUV. One of the trucks was traveling westbound, and the other two vehicles were traveling east. The westbound truck crossed the center line and struck the second pickup and then the SUV. Both the SUV and the first truck eventually came to a stop on the shoulder of the road. Authorities say that the driver of the first truck, the westbound vehicle, was traveling too fast for the road conditions in addition to failing to maintain her lane. The driver of the eastbound pickup truck was, thankfully,…

2 Hospitalized After Recent Car Accident in Georgia

Even a small distraction can place a driver at risk of being involved in a collision. In fact, a car accident can occur within a matter of seconds. Georgia authorities recently responded to a crash involving two vehicles. A pickup truck was leaving a Kroger parking lot in Columbia County when it collided with a car that was traveling in the middle lane of the roadway. The driver of the pickup apparently did not see the oncoming vehicle. After the collision, traffic was limited to a single lane on one side of the road, and traffic on the other side of the road slowed significantly. Both the driver and passenger in the car were injured in the crash. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries, which were not considered life-threatening. Later, police determined that the driver of the pickup truck was at fault. He was charged with a failure…

Search Continues for Driver After Car Accident

There are many people who attempt to flee after committing one serious crime or multiple crimes. Georgia officers are searching for a driver who made bail after a car accident that resulted in one death and two serious injuries. The suspect is also wanted for his involvement in other criminal activity, and authorities say that he should be considered dangerous. They also ask that anyone who has information about the suspect to contact the police. At the time of the crash, the 19-year-old suspect was reportedly traveling 84 miles per hour on a road where the speed limit was 35 miles per hour. He was traveling with five minor passengers in his vehicle. The suspect's vehicle collided with a second vehicle carrying two passengers. One of these passengers was killed, and the other was seriously injured. A passenger in the at-fault driver's vehicle was also seriously injured. A few days before the…

Georgia Car Accident Causes 1 Death, Multiple Injuries

Many accidents that occur can be attributed to young and inexperienced drivers. Other times, experienced drivers may choose to ignore what may seem to be small rules because they are in a hurry or maybe because they do not believe that there is any danger at that time. Georgia State Patrol recently responded to a car accident involving a similar situation. Two vehicles collided; one, a pickup truck, was driven by a 16-year-old and the other, a car, was operated by a 62-year-old. The crash occurred when the 62-year-old driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic while pulling into an intersection. As he pulled into the intersection a pickup truck driven by the 16-year-old collided with the driver's side door. Police said that the younger driver attempted to stop the truck but was unable to do so. Both drivers and their passengers were wearing seat belts. Authorities pronounced the older driver dead at the…

One Dead and One Injured After Car Accident

Wearing a seat belt can be the difference between life and death as many Georgia drivers know. Most drivers fasten their seat belt out of habit, but there are some who do not believe that they need it. Following simple laws like wearing a seat belt, stopping at a stop sign, yielding to traffic, or following the speed limit can help to limit the number or the severity of injuries caused by accidents. Some of these can even help to prevent a car accident entirely. A recent crash involving two vehicles resulted in the injury of one driver and the death of another. The crash occurred when the driver of the first vehicle failed to yield to oncoming traffic while turning left onto a highway. Another car traveling in the opposite direction struck the first vehicle as it crossed over opposing lanes of traffic. When police arrived, they pronounced the driver of the…

2 Die in Macon Car Accident

Winter can be an unpredictable time of year, even for those living in the south. Within the last few years, snow has become a more common occurrence in Georgia. Even though the snow usually lasts only a few days, it's effect on roadways and traffic can be extreme. It is not uncommon for drivers who are not accustomed to driving in snow and ice on a regular basis to be involved in a car accident. Recently, snow and ice effectively shut down businesses and schools across Georgia and caused a number of accidents on interstate roadways. One of these accidents occurred on I-75 North. A car containing two individuals slid on a patch of black ice and struck a guardrail. The driver exited the vehicle in what authorities suspect was an effort to survey the damage to the car or view the road conditions. The driver of an approaching car…
