Drunk Driving Suspected in Deadly Crash

Two women from out of state were tragically killed in McIntosh County after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95, according to police. Georgia State Patrol Specialized Reconstruction Team Investigators have confirmed the deaths of the two women. Police believe drunk driving may have played a role in the accident and report that charges are pending against one driver involved. According to GSP troopers, around 2:30 a.m. on the morning of June 13, a 20-year-old man apparently rear-ended another car in the southbound lanes, disabling the second vehicle. Its four occupants, a woman and her son and daughter, along with the son's spouse, exited the vehicle to seek shelter on the side of the road. What followed was best described as a pileup as three more cars became involved in the crash. It is not clear at what point the two women were struck by one of these vehicles, or even…

Man’s Life Lost in Drunk Driving Accident

The public often hears about a driver who had been drinking and caused an accident. However, a Georgia news outlet recently released a story about a drunk driving accident that involved two drivers who had been drinking. The drunk driving accident resulted in the death of a 62-year-old man. The report stated a 28 year-old-woman was driving after drinking and neglected to stop at a stop sign. Both drivers and the passenger in the first car were taken to a nearby hospital, treated for minor injuries and released. Police discovered not only had the driver of the first car been drinking but the driver of the second car had, as well. The woman was charged with DUI, running a stop sign and homicide…

Drunk Driving Accident Kills 1 on I-85

As long as people are allowed to drink alcohol and then get behind the wheel while their senses and reflexes are dulled, there will be accidents. Many of these drunk driving accidents result in the death of at least one other person. A 24-year-old Georgia resident was recently killed as a result of drunk driving. A news outlet had made an initial report that a vehicle had pulled to the shoulder of I-85 with a flat tire around 6 a.m on a recent morning. The 24-year-old male was still inside his immobilized vehicle when another car came along and crashed into him. His vehicle was pushed into one of the lanes of interstate traffic, where an 18-wheeler slammed into it and caused the vehicle to burst into flames. The young driver did not survive the collisions. Allegedly, an officer who had investigated the scene testified in court that he had reason…

College Student Pleads Guilty in Car Accident Fatality

Everyone seems to be in a hurry, especially when driving from one point to another. Being in a hurry and not obeying the rules of the road often causes a car accident with injuries or fatalities. A college student has been sentenced after a 64-year-old Georgia woman was killed in a car accident. The student had attended classes at a nearby state university and was headed home. Police investigation reports say she was not only excessively speeding at 78 mph, 33 mph over the speed limit, but she was passing cars in areas where there were double yellow lines. On one passing attempt, she pulled into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a woman headed to pick up one of her grandchildren. She succumbed to her severe injuries nine days after the accident. In court, the student entered a guilty plea to the numerous charges against her, which included homicide…

Semi-Truck Accident Kills 4

The interstate system was designed to make traveling easier and yes, faster. However, too many drivers go too fast on the interstate highways with little regard to safety toward others and themselves. While passenger vehicles can do much damage on their own, a semi-truck accident typically results in greater damage, just from the sheer weight and size of the truck. Four people died in a truck accident on a Georgia interstate after the big rig crashed into the rear of their pickup truck. A video from a business just off the interstate showed a semi-truck traveling northbound along I-75, slowing down for an accident several miles ahead. The pickup truck was behind the semi and also began to slow. A second semi came up behind the pickup truck, but the driver never engaged the brakes. The rig slammed into the pickup truck and pushed it into the back of the first semi.…

Charges Issued to Young Man After Car Accident

Collisions between vehicles happen for any number of reasons. Distractions by cell phones or passengers, along with the weather and the inattentiveness of other drivers can all result in a car accident that causes serious injury or death. Police in a middle Georgia town have charged a 21-year-old man with vehicular homicide after his negligent actions caused a car accident. According to police reports, an 85-year-old woman was turning out of the parking lot of a pharmacy and on to one of the town's major roadways. The young man's car hit the woman's car, and she died two days later from the injuries she sustained in the collision. The report did not state whether or not the man was injured. The man is active-duty military, stationed at a nearby Air Force base. In addition to the homicide charge, police also cited him for not wearing his seat belt and for reckless…
