Grand Jury Indictment in Fatal Car Accident Case

Caution on the road is imperative these days, as the potential for an accident is present or at any time of the day or night. That potential for a fatal car accident increases with the number of people who consume alcohol or drugs and then get behind the wheel. A Georgia woman was recently indicted by a grand jury for killing three adults in a fatal car accident. The 59-year-old woman was transporting four people to their assisted-living facility nearly 10 months ago when she ran off the road in her SUV. The vehicle crossed three lanes, ran off the road and hit the side of a ditch before flipping over. Three of her passengers died at the scene from the impact and she and a fourth passenger were seriously injured. They were air-lifted to a hospital 30 miles away from the accident. Responding police say they found cocaine in the driver's…

Woman Seeks Justice After Car Accident Injuries

Everyone can make a mistake, but that does not excuse carelessness while operating a motor vehicle. Should that carelessness lead to a car accident that causes the injury or death of another person, the driver could be financially accountable and may be subject to a civil lawsuit. Sometimes, criminal charges apply as well. A Georgia woman was injured in a car accident and is seeking justice that the local police department claims it will not enforce. The woman says she was in the parking lot of a retail store after making a purchase and returning to her car when another car backed out of its parking space and hit her. She claims the two of them made eye contact before the man began to drive in reverse. Not only did the car knock her to the ground, but the woman claims the driver ran over one of her legs before driving away. A dash…

Woman Files Lawsuit After Son Injured in Car Accident

The negligence of one person can have a ripple effect, resulting in adverse consequences for a number of people. One person not paying attention to what he or she is doing while driving can lead to permanent injury, death, and even lawsuits. A Georgia woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit after her son was seriously injured in a car accident. Just over two years ago, the woman was turning off a highway into a private driveway when a school bus slammed into the rear of the car behind her, pushing that car into the rear of her vehicle. A report did not detail all of the injuries to the woman's son, only that there were several, including traumatic injury to his brain. There was also no mention of the child's present mental and physical condition. The attorney the woman retained has requested a jury trial to determine damages for all…

Freak Car Accident Kills Woman Walking Her Dog

Many vehicular accidents can be avoided, simply by keeping cars and trucks properly maintained. Some car accidents may be attributed to faulty manufacturing and no recall on the parts involved, but some can be the result of owner irresponsibility for improper care of their vehicle. A car accident involving a loose tire resulted in the death of a Georgia pedestrian. The 22-year-old woman left her house around 9 p.m. to walk her dog. Her family grew concerned when she did not return from a walk that normally took around 20 minutes. When her dog came home without her nearly 45 minutes later, they went to look for her and found her lying on the ground, face-down. Emergency personnel transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Police determined the woman had been hit in the head with a tire from a vehicle that had been traveling on the road…

Man Sentenced After Causing Death of Friend in Car Accident

Although it seems most drivers charged with DUI are younger, there is not an age limit to this type offense. Anyone of any age who drinks, drives and causes a car accident that results in death or serious injuries can be sentenced to serve time in jail, time on probation and/or be subject to other penalties. Meanwhile, there are numerous families facing futures without someone they love because of the negligent choices of others. A Georgia man has been sentenced for causing the death of a friend in a car accident because he chose to drive drunk. Nearly two years ago, the 61-year-old man chose to drive, not only after he had been drinking but also after he had taken an antihistamine that only served to increase the magnitude of his impairment. According to investigation reports, he was going nearly 50 mph over the posted speed limit when his car went off…

Teen Dies in Car Accident Caused by Alleged Drunk Driver

Despite warning after warning from officers of the law, some people still choose to drive after drinking alcohol. Many of them believe nothing will happen because they have not consumed that much. Some simply do not care if they are a danger to themselves and others. No matter the thought process, there is a danger not just to themselves, but to others should their inebriated state cause a car accident resulting in injury or death. The students of one Georgia high school are joining a family in mourning the death of one of their own in a car accident police say was caused by a drunk driver. Two brothers and their cousin were on their way to school in a Ford F-150 pickup truck when a Jeep Cherokee veered over into their lane, causing a head-on collision. The driver of the Jeep and the three boys were sent to a medical facility…

Police Arrest Driver After Man Dies in Car Accident

In many areas of the country, driving can be very hazardous at any time of the day or night. Some of the major cities in Georgia have at least one car accident with serious injuries or fatalities during the 24 hours of any given day. A late-morning car accident resulted in the death of a 37-year-old driver and the arrest of the man who caused it. Police reports stated a 25-year-old man was nearing an intersection when the driver in front of him slammed on the brakes. In an effort to keep from crashing into the rear of the car, he said he jerked his steering wheel to the left, which took his vehicle into the lane of oncoming traffic. He then collided with a sedan headed straight toward him. The driver of the sedan did not survive due to the severity of his injuries. Police arrested the younger man with…

Woman Dies in Car Accident — Police Issue Charges

What boils down to negligence, in many cases, begins with what seems to be a plausible excuse. When police conclude their investigation into a car accident, they will sometimes find the facts do not support the story given to them by the offender. Police in a Georgia town have issued a number of charges, including vehicular homicide, to a man for causing a car accident that killed a 63-year-old woman. The early afternoon collision happened when the man ran a red light. He told police he had been in an argument with unknown persons and had driven away in a hurry, as someone in a black SUV began firing a gun at him. As he ignored the traffic signal, he hit a Volvo that was coming through the intersection on a green light. The driver of the Volvo was killed upon impact. Police found an infant in the man's vehicle…

Woman Chasing Boyfriend Leads to Fatal Car Accident

In any area of life, the actions of one person can affect the lives of many. This can be a good thing or it can be catastrophic. When driving, a wrong action could result in horrific consequences. A Georgia woman has recently been sentenced for her part in causing a fatal car accident in Feb. 2018. According to a report, the woman got into a fight with her boyfriend while at her apartment. He left the apartment in his car but she followed him in her vehicle with a gun in her possession. He alerted police to her actions after she fired shots at him from her car. The third vehicle flipped over, ejecting the driver. He did not survive the injuries he…

Charges Pending After Student Injured in a Car Accident

Vehicular crashes are attributed to numerous causes. Among some explanations given over the years as to why a car accident happens are because a driver consumed a substance that alters reflexes and perception, was just plain negligent, or had some type of medical episode that caused him or her to lose control of the wheel. A student at a Georgia university was seriously injured in a car accident involving four vehicles. The 18-year-old driver of a Chevrolet compact car was traveling near the school when he sideswiped two vehicles parked in designated places along the side of the road. The student was standing near the rear of a third parked vehicle and was injured when the Chevrolet crashed into that vehicle. Although she was treated by local first responders, she was shortly airlifted to a medical facility 30 miles away. A status on her condition was not given in a report…
