Search Continues for Driver After Car Accident

There are many people who attempt to flee after committing one serious crime or multiple crimes. Georgia officers are searching for a driver who made bail after a car accident that resulted in one death and two serious injuries. The suspect is also wanted for his involvement in other criminal activity, and authorities say that he should be considered dangerous. They also ask that anyone who has information about the suspect to contact the police. At the time of the crash, the 19-year-old suspect was reportedly traveling 84 miles per hour on a road where the speed limit was 35 miles per hour. He was traveling with five minor passengers in his vehicle. The suspect's vehicle collided with a second vehicle carrying two passengers. One of these passengers was killed, and the other was seriously injured. A passenger in the at-fault driver's vehicle was also seriously injured. A few days before the…

Georgia Car Accident Causes 1 Death, Multiple Injuries

Many accidents that occur can be attributed to young and inexperienced drivers. Other times, experienced drivers may choose to ignore what may seem to be small rules because they are in a hurry or maybe because they do not believe that there is any danger at that time. Georgia State Patrol recently responded to a car accident involving a similar situation. Two vehicles collided; one, a pickup truck, was driven by a 16-year-old and the other, a car, was operated by a 62-year-old. The crash occurred when the 62-year-old driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic while pulling into an intersection. As he pulled into the intersection a pickup truck driven by the 16-year-old collided with the driver's side door. Police said that the younger driver attempted to stop the truck but was unable to do so. Both drivers and their passengers were wearing seat belts. Authorities pronounced the older driver dead at the…

One Dead and One Injured After Car Accident

Wearing a seat belt can be the difference between life and death as many Georgia drivers know. Most drivers fasten their seat belt out of habit, but there are some who do not believe that they need it. Following simple laws like wearing a seat belt, stopping at a stop sign, yielding to traffic, or following the speed limit can help to limit the number or the severity of injuries caused by accidents. Some of these can even help to prevent a car accident entirely. A recent crash involving two vehicles resulted in the injury of one driver and the death of another. The crash occurred when the driver of the first vehicle failed to yield to oncoming traffic while turning left onto a highway. Another car traveling in the opposite direction struck the first vehicle as it crossed over opposing lanes of traffic. When police arrived, they pronounced the driver of the…

2 Die in Macon Car Accident

Winter can be an unpredictable time of year, even for those living in the south. Within the last few years, snow has become a more common occurrence in Georgia. Even though the snow usually lasts only a few days, it's effect on roadways and traffic can be extreme. It is not uncommon for drivers who are not accustomed to driving in snow and ice on a regular basis to be involved in a car accident. Recently, snow and ice effectively shut down businesses and schools across Georgia and caused a number of accidents on interstate roadways. One of these accidents occurred on I-75 North. A car containing two individuals slid on a patch of black ice and struck a guardrail. The driver exited the vehicle in what authorities suspect was an effort to survey the damage to the car or view the road conditions. The driver of an approaching car…

Teenager Dies in Car Accident on His Way to a Funeral

Nearly everyone has had to attend a funeral at some point in his or her life. They are emotionally charged events, which can be difficult for many to attend. However, many people begin grieving before the funeral is even scheduled, and the time leading up to the funeral itself can be incredibly difficult. In Georgia, one father was unfortunate enough to witness the car accident that claimed the life of one of his sons and injured the other while they were on their way to the funeral of another family member. The accident occurred between two vehicles early one afternoon on GA 247. One car was driven by a 20-year-old Macon resident, and the other vehicle contained the victim and his brother. The brothers were following their father's car to the funeral of their aunt at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, the father witnessed the accident through the rearview mirror of…

Car Accident Kills Woman Who Exited Her Vehicle on the Interstate

When drivers are involved in an accident one of their first instincts may be to exit the vehicle and survey the damage or get away from the vehicle. A car accident that occurred on I-75 in Georgia underscores that this reaction can have tragic results. In light of the tragic accident, authorities have attempted to emphasize the importance of staying inside of the vehicle after an accident so long as it remains safe to do so. The initial accident that began the deadly chain of events involved only two vehicles. A car rear-ended a pickup truck, with the car then facing the wrong way on the interstate. The truck did not stop, but the driver later contacted authorities to say that he kept driving because there did not seem to be any major damage to his vehicle. However, the car facing the wrong way on the interstate was struck by another vehicle and…

Car Accident Results in Severe Injuries for 7 Year-Old Girl

It is always tragic when a person suffers a serious injury in an accident, even more so when that person is a child. One such car accident occurred earlier this month and resulted in what many parents may consider being one of their worst nightmares.  This crash is the reason why a 7-year-old girl is currently a patient at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Authorities say that this accident occurred on a Saturday afternoon in Newnan around 5 p.m. The little girl was seated behind her mother in the car. Reports say that a minivan crashed into their vehicle as the mother was attempting to turn left onto another street. When Georgia State Patrol arrived on the scene, the child was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Upon arriving at the hospital, it was revealed that the girl had suffered damage to her spinal cord, a collapsed lung, and brain swelling. Doctors have told…

When Should I See My Doctor After a Car Accident?

It may not seem too bad compared to a serious auto collision, but a minor crash is stressful. After a fender-bender, you need to spend several days dealing with the other driver, your insurance company, and repair shops. The last thing you and other Georgia residents may be thinking of after a minor crash is getting checked out by a doctor. However, the week following an accident is the exact time frame you should be paying attention to how your body feels. You might have walked away from the fender-bender without a scratch, but you could be feeling sore as early as the next day. Whiplash is a common injury suffered by countless people after minor collisions, especially rear-end crashes. This type of injury occurs when your head has been thrown back and forth by the impact. Often, you will not feel the effects of whiplash immediately, but you will begin to…

Car Accident Causes the Death of One Passenger

Most Georgia families know that coping with the death of a loved one can be difficult. Too often, a car accident is the cause of a family's grief. A single, poor decision can forever change the lives of individuals as well as entire families. One such accident occurred in Milledgeville, Georgia. A head-on collision between a sedan and a pickup truck resulted in the injury of three individuals. The two drivers were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. The third individual, a passenger in the sedan, suffered fatal injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Macon where he died. The accident occurred when the driver of the sedan refused to stop when a trooper attempted to pull him over. According to authorities, the trooper was attempting to pull the car over for a seat belt violation. The driver of the car turned onto another road and collided with the truck…

Speeding Contributes to Collision Between a Truck and a Tractor

Georgia residents living in rural areas have probably been caught behind individuals driving farm equipment, like tractors, on the roads. These vehicles only travel between 18 and 25 mph, and other drivers can sometimes become frustrated with the slow pace. This often results in drivers speeding around the slower-moving farm equipment. Unfortunately, drivers do not always wait for a safe time to pass these vehicles, and the results can be disastrous. This was the case in Madison County where a truck crashed into a slow-moving tractor. A witness to the crash, the driver of a second tractor, reported that the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the first tractor. The tractor was described as being torn in half as a result of the crash. The driver of the tractor was pinned underneath the front half of the machine. Witnesses say that the pinned man was making…
