Hit-And-Run Car Accident Leaves Georgia Man Injured

Driving on any Georgia road can be dangerous if other drivers are not cautious and alert. However, if a car accident should occur, one might expect the other driver to stop and render aid or at least check on the condition of anyone in the other vehicle. A recent collision in Georgia demonstrates that accident victims cannot always rely on this. Sometime before 4 a.m. on a recent Sunday, a man driving north in the right lane on Highway 316 noticed another vehicle approaching from behind. It was still dark, and the other vehicle's headlights shone in the driver's rear-view mirror. He expected the other vehicle to pass and was shocked when it allegedly struck his own vehicle, sending it spinning off the road. The man reported that he felt his vehicle flipping numerous times before he lost consciousness. The other driver apparently continued without stopping. The injured man regained consciousness…

Head-On Car Accident Claims One Life

A woman is dead following a head-on crash late on Aug. 13, according to the Department of Transportation. The Georgia State Patrol investigated the car accident that claimed the life of a 36-year-old woman. Two other people were taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Given the details of the case, it appears charges will not be filed against the injured driver, but the investigation is still underway as of this report. According to the accident report, the woman was headed southbound on Georgia 247 when, for reasons unknown, her vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. This caused her vehicle to strike a northbound vehicle head-on, with enough force to kill her. She was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving medical authorities. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle, who have not been identified publicly by police, were taken to a local hospital. It…

Car Wrecks Caused by Seniors in Georgia 5th Highest in US

Though a driver of any age can be involved in a car crash, some drivers may have more risk factors than others. A recent study claims that, here in Georgia, senior citizens have a higher risk of being in car wrecks than in most of the rest of the nation, ranking fifth on the list. There are several reasons why this may be the case. Older people's cognitive and physical abilities can decline due to age, making it more difficult for them to safely operate a vehicle. Experts say that families should watch for certain behaviors that may indicate that an elderly loved one should stop driving. If a loved one has increased difficulty hearing or seeing, cannot follow a conversation, or has difficulty with motor skills, it may be best for everyone to convince the individual to stop driving. Also, if families notice that the older person's vehicle has…

Georgia Teen Seriously Injured in Car Accident; Arrest Made

On behalf of Dozier Law Firm, LLC posted in Car Accidents on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Most people are aware of there is a potential chance of being involved in an accident while driving. Those involved in an accident are required to remain at the scene. Unfortunately, law enforcement officials in Georgia say that a driver recently fled the scene of a car accident that injured a pedestrian. Rescue workers responded to the scene during the early morning hours of a day in July. According to reports, a 19-year-old was discovered lying in the road. He was transported to the hospital and listed in serious condition. Police believe that the teen was struck by a vehicle, and the driver of that vehicle left. However, an investigator allegedly discovered the identity of the driver and located the vehicle believed to have been involved in the days following the accident. The driver, also a 19-year-old male, is charged…

Police Detective at Fault for Car Accident

Using drugs and driving simply don't mix. Law enforcement deals with DUI car accidents on a seemingly daily basis. One Georgia police detective may have ignored the lessons he may have learned on the job, as he was recently arrested for DUI following a car accident. The detective was off-duty and in his personal vehicle on a weekend afternoon when his car went off the road and onto a sidewalk. A pedestrian was hit but not critically injured. The detective stayed on the scene until police and emergency responders arrived. The injured victim was taken to a local hospital after complaining of leg pain. Responding officers arrested the detective after giving him a field sobriety test. He was cited with reckless driving in addition to the DUI charge and will be on administrative leave until an investigation has concluded. He has been in his current position for two years with no other…

Car Accident Takes Lives of 2 Children

There are so many things that can be a distraction to drivers. Paying attention to cellphones, passengers or even one's own thoughts can distract a driver enough to cause an avoidable car accident. Police in a Georgia county is charging a woman for her part in the deaths of two children after they say she caused a fatal car accident. Police say the late-night accident happened when the driver of a northbound SUV crossed over to the southbound lane and hit a smaller SUV head-on. The impact pushed the smaller SUV into a sedan. A 14-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy in the smaller SUV were pronounced dead after rescue personnel transported the three drivers and their passengers to a nearby hospital. All others are expected to recover, though further details regarding their injuries were not reported. Once the 28-year-old driver of the larger SUV is released from medical treatment, police…

College Student Pleads Guilty in Car Accident Fatality

Everyone seems to be in a hurry, especially when driving from one point to another. Being in a hurry and not obeying the rules of the road often causes a car accident with injuries or fatalities. A college student has been sentenced after a 64-year-old Georgia woman was killed in a car accident. The student had attended classes at a nearby state university and was headed home. Police investigation reports say she was not only excessively speeding at 78 mph, 33 mph over the speed limit, but she was passing cars in areas where there were double yellow lines. On one passing attempt, she pulled into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a woman headed to pick up one of her grandchildren. She succumbed to her severe injuries nine days after the accident. In court, the student entered a guilty plea to the numerous charges against her, which included homicide…

Charges Issued to Young Man After Car Accident

Collisions between vehicles happen for any number of reasons. Distractions by cell phones or passengers, along with the weather and the inattentiveness of other drivers can all result in a car accident that causes serious injury or death. Police in a middle Georgia town have charged a 21-year-old man with vehicular homicide after his negligent actions caused a car accident. According to police reports, an 85-year-old woman was turning out of the parking lot of a pharmacy and on to one of the town's major roadways. The young man's car hit the woman's car, and she died two days later from the injuries she sustained in the collision. The report did not state whether or not the man was injured. The man is active-duty military, stationed at a nearby Air Force base. In addition to the homicide charge, police also cited him for not wearing his seat belt and for reckless…

Car Accident Takes Life of Mother

Whether it is from distraction, impatience or simply recklessness many people do not seem to take the proper precautions while on the road. The ripple effects from causing a devastating car accident can haunt a person for many years. A spokesperson from the Georgia State Patrol states a mother of four children was recently killed in a car accident as a result of someone else's negligence. The GSP report states the mother, with her children as passengers, was driving her Dodge Caliber southbound followed by a 21-year-old woman driving an SUV. The mother slowed her vehicle in order to make a left turn when the SUV hit the Caliber from behind. The force of the crash pushed the Caliber into the lane of oncoming traffic, where it collided with a sedan headed north. The mother died at the scene from her injuries and one child was critically injured. The other three…
