Police Detective at Fault for Car Accident

The detective was off-duty and in his personal vehicle on a weekend afternoon when his car went off the road and onto a sidewalk. A pedestrian was hit but not critically injured. The detective stayed on the scene until police and emergency responders arrived. The injured victim was taken to a local hospital after complaining of leg pain.

Responding officers arrested the detective after giving him a field sobriety test. He was cited with reckless driving in addition to the DUI charge and will be on administrative leave until an investigation has concluded. He has been in his current position for two years with no other incidents.

When someone is injured in a Georgia car accident, the person responsible may be held accountable. Apart from any criminal consequences for the wrongdoer, the injured party has the right to pursue a civil claim for monetary damages against the party or parties deemed culpable. A personal injury lawsuit, or wrongful death claim in the event of a fatality, can be filed in pursuit of financial compensation. Those who have been injured due to the apparent negligence of another party, or the surviving loved ones of someone killed in such a manner, can begin the process of filing a lawsuit through a personal injury attorney.

Wonderful law firm that cares

I was injured in a terrible fall which left my foot, arm back and knee badly bruised. The Dozier Law Firm was awesome. Attorney Dustin Hamilton reviewed and accepted my case and within a few months he was able to settle my case for more than I ever imagine. The Dozier Law Firm is A+ in my book.
