Interstate Highways Often Scenes of Fatal Accidents

Losing a loved one is never easy but it seems even harder to accept when the loss is due to the negligence of another person. Fatal accidents are often caused by someone who is not giving sufficient attention to the task at hand, usually in operating some type of machine that is capable of causing grave injuries, such as a car or truck. A Georgia man was recently a victim in one of the state's latest fatal accidents as he was traveling on Interstate 20. The 3 a.m. collision occurred when the young driver of a BMW sedan hit the back end of a 2009 Nissan. The driver of the BMW was speeding and following the other vehicle too closely at the time of the crash. Police also believe he had been drinking not long before the crash. Neither vehicle was able to stay on the highway. The impact was…

Fatal Accidents Caused by Negligent Driving

Deadly crashes can happen at any time and to any person, no matter what precautions a driver may take. There is no guarantee that other drivers are as careful on the road, that weather conditions are always perfect for driving, and that deer and that other animals do not dart out in front of a moving vehicle. A Georgia man has been sentenced after his conviction in causing one of the state's fatal accidents nearly two years ago. A report on the court proceedings did not give details of the crash, only that the driver was speeding when his car crashed into another vehicle carrying four members of one family. The mother and two of her children were injured, but her third child, a 19-year-old man, was killed. One of the children still experiences debilitating pain from her injuries. The 24-year-old driver accused and convicted of a host of charges, including…

Family Files Wrongful Death Suit After Child Dies at Day Camp

Summer is fast approaching, and some Georgia residents are dreading the heat, while others are looking forward to it. Many parents and children are getting ready for various camps and activities that will begin with at the end of the school year. While most of the time these camps and activities are a source of fond memories, occasionally they are plagued by tragic events. The parents of a 5-year-old boy filed a wrongful death suit after their son died while under the care of camp counselors in July, 2017. The child attended a local day camp at a nature center with 12 other campers and well as three camp counselors on the day that he died. The campers were taken on a short hike and fed lunch before being allowed to play in some nearby shallow water under the supervision of the counselors. Unfortunately, the adults failed to notice the little boy as…

Fatal Accidents in Popular Locations

It is widely believed that there are few things more tragic than the death of a child. Many residents of Georgia might have heard about a recent accident that resulted in the death of a small child. Fatal accidents that occur in public places, like shopping centers, can sometimes have a long-lasting effect on the memories of those who were involved in some way or on those who learned about it later. A young child was recently killed by a falling mirror while shopping for shoes with her family. The child was looking at some of the store's merchandise when the family reportedly heard a crash. One of the store's full-length mirrors was not properly secured and had fallen onto the little girl. Among the witnesses was one of the victim's older cousins. He told reporters that before the paramedics arrived his cousin had lost a significant amount of blood…

Mother of Stuntman Files Wrongful Death Suit

Action-packed television shows are among the most popular today. The audience members sit on the edge of their seats as they watch their favorite characters stand up to villains or fend off zombies. However, many viewers may not think about how these amazing shows are made. Actors put hours of work into creating the characters that audiences come to love, and their stuntmen put their bodies on the line to bring the action sequences to life. Even with the safety precautions taken by the production, a stuntman was killed while filming the show "The Walking Dead" in Georgia, and his mother has since filed a wrongful death suit. The stuntman died several months ago from injuries he suffered while performing a fall during filming. In the suit, the 33-year-old actor's mother claims that a low budget was responsible for what she claims were insufficient safety standards. she alleges that the pressure to…

Robbery May Result in Wrongful Death Suit

Most of our time is split between home and work. In fact, there are many people who seem to spend so much time at work that it begins to feel like a second home; they become comfortable there or feel as though they should be. There are times when employees become concerned with certain procedures or security measures, which they can communicate to their employers, and it is up to the employers to listen to these concerns and take appropriate measures. A restaurant employee in Georgia voiced her concerns about the establishment's security, but her concerns went unheeded and she was killed during a robbery. Her family may now be considering filing a wrongful death suit against their daughter's former employer. The robbery occurred at Barcelona Wine Bar in Atlanta. Three masked and armed individuals came into the bar early one morning as employees were closing the restaurant. The regular employees who…

Family Awarded Millions in Wrongful Death Suit

Thankfully, most Georgia car accidents don't involve fires. When they do, it's usually because big rigs or other large vehicles were involved. In 2012, a collision between an SUV and a pickup truck resulted in a horrific blaze that killed a young boy. His family subsequently filed a wrongful death suit against Chrysler, the manufacturer of their vehicle. The accident occurred when a pickup truck collided with a left-turning SUV. The force of the collision caused the gas tank of the struck vehicle to rupture. The fire caused by gas that ignited resulted in the death of a 4-year-old boy in the SUV. After the accident, the parents of the child filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the manufacturer of the vehicle in which their son was a passenger. They claimed that the location of the gas tank was directly linked with the death of their son. The gas tank of the vehicle…

Sandy Springs police reported the suspect in the fatal accident is facing charges of vehicular homicide in the first degree. In addition, the man is charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident. Georgia man killed in suspected drunk driving incident

A man was killed in Atlanta on the morning of August 31 when his vehicle was hit by a suspected drunk driver as he was driving home. According to authorities, his car was hit head-on at the intersection of Neal Street NW and Joseph E. Lowery Street by a car operated by a 41-year-old woman. The woman was headed north on Neal when the collision took place. She was charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, improper turn and reckless driving. As evidenced by this incident, alcohol sometimes plays a role in fatal accidents. Other factors in fatal accidents might include distracted driving, from the use of a cellphone for talking or texting, reckless driving and road and weather conditions. While some of these factors are out of a driver's control, some, such as speeding and using a cellphone, can be used to show that a…
