A 19-year-old man was driving a 2002 Ford Focus on Jackson Lake Road when he approached the road’s intersection with Ga. 81. He reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign when he arrived at the intersection. He then collided with a 2007 Ford Mustang driven by an 18-year-old man. The impact of the collision caused the death of the 19-year-old. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by responding emergency personnel.
A 19-year-old female passenger in the Ford suffered serious injuries, and she was airlifted for treatment to the Atlanta Medical Center. Her current condition is not known. The Mustang driver was also injured in the crash, and he was taken to the same medical center as the woman for treatment.
Reckless driving can result in major car wrecks involving fatalities and serious injuries. When a victim is seriously injured in an accident as a result of another driver’s recklessness or negligence, the victim could file a personal injury claim to hold that individual responsible for the damages they incurred. In cases like this one in which the negligent driver is killed in the accident he or she caused, victims may still be able to receive compensation by naming the decedent’s estate as the defendant in the complaint.
