Semi-Truck Accident Kills 4

The interstate system was designed to make traveling easier and yes, faster. However, too many drivers go too fast on the interstate highways with little regard to safety toward others and themselves. While passenger vehicles can do much damage on their own, a semi-truck accident typically results in greater damage, just from the sheer weight and size of the truck. Four people died in a truck accident on a Georgia interstate after the big rig crashed into the rear of their pickup truck. A video from a business just off the interstate showed a semi-truck traveling northbound along I-75, slowing down for an accident several miles ahead. The pickup truck was behind the semi and also began to slow. A second semi came up behind the pickup truck, but the driver never engaged the brakes. The rig slammed into the pickup truck and pushed it into the back of the first semi.…

Truck Accident in Georgia Kills 3

Three people died following a tragic accident involving a diesel truck, according to local sources. The Peach County Emergency Management Agency in Fort Valley confirmed the truck accident that killed both the truck driver and two people in a passenger vehicle. The precise cause of the Georgia accident is still under investigation. Limited information is available from this report, but it has been confirmed that the accident happened on the evening of March 30. Apparently, a tractor-trailer driven by a 55-year-old woman was headed eastbound on the 49 Bypass when the accident occurred. For reasons that are still unknown, the truck collided with a southbound vehicle carrying two female students, both 19 years old, who attended the nearby Fort Valley State University. The force of the impact caused the fuel tank on the tractor-trailer to rupture. This, in turn, caused both vehicles to catch fire, trapping all three people in…

Locals Request Changes After Fatal Truck Accident

In many communities, local residents know exactly where dangerous intersections and roads are located. These are areas where traffic accidents happen frequently and often are a source of contention between the people who have to often utilize them and transportation officials. This is what some residents in Georgia say tied into a recent fatal truck accident that has resulted in criminal charges for the driver that authorities say is responsible. Officials say that the accident happened when a semitrailer pulled into traffic in an attempt to make a left turn. The truck allegedly ended up blocking traffic, causing a driver to crash into it. Though the man was rushed to a local hospital, he did not survive. The driver of the truck has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, failure to yield, and obstruction of an intersection. Workers in the area around the crash claim that a traffic light could have…

Grand Jury Indicts Man for Drunk Driving

People who drink before driving often think they are fine to drive and will be able to get to their destination with no problem. However, they can spend a lifetime paying the consequences for drunk driving should it be the cause of injury or death to another person. Drunk driving is said to be the reason a man has been indicted in the death of a Georgia police officer. A report stated the man had caused a head-on collision as he was driving his pickup truck the wrong way on Interstate 16 around 2:30 a.m. one morning in May 2018. Among those responding to the accident was a 37-year-old police officer. He remained inside his patrol vehicle with the lights turned on and parked so that traffic would detour to an exit off the interstate. A tractor-trailer hit the patrol car and injured the officer, who died not long after from…

Wrongful Death Lawsuit an Option After Semi Kills Couple

Too often do family and friends have to say an earthly farewell to a loved one because another person was negligent while driving. The option of filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the perpetrator is available in most cases of death due to negligent or reckless behavior. The family of a Georgia couple appears to have grounds to pursue financial damages from a wrongful death lawsuit after the death of a couple. The husband and wife, both 71 years of age, were in their Ford F-150 and were traveling through an intersection when a semitrailer ran a stop sign. The pickup hit the side of the semi, causing the semi to roll on top of the pickup truck. The couple died upon impact. Georgia State Patrol officials have not released details of the accident but state they are still investigating the matter. They indicated that charges will likely be issued to the 30-year-old…

Truck Accident Involving Multiple Tractor-Trailers Kills One

Driving among multiple tractor-trailers can be daunting for many drivers. If a truck driver makes even a small mistake, the results could be disastrous. Georgia State Patrol responded to a truck accident last week involving multiple tractor-trailers and a much smaller passenger vehicle. The crash resulted in several injuries as well as the death of one of the drivers. The crash occurred on June 20 on Interstate 285 northbound and involved four semi-trucks in addition to one car. One of the tractor-trailers struck three other large tractor-trailers as well as the rear of the small car. This chain reaction collision also forced the car to be pushed underneath one of the semi-trucks. This crash caused the two far-right lanes and an exit ramp to be blocked for approximately six hours. Five people were injured in the crash and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the driver of the car…

Driver Charged After Truck Accident

Traffic accidents are, unfortunately, unavoidable on major roadways like highways or interstates. These accidents can range from minor fender-benders with no injuries to multiple-car pileups that result in severe injuries or deaths. A truck accident is especially likely to result in injury or death because of the size of the vehicle involved. Several months ago, one such accident occurred in Georgia, and one of the drivers who was seriously injured in the crash recently passed away. As a result, charges have been filed against the truck driver involved. The original crash occurred in November of last year and involved 11 vehicles, including a tractor-trailer. Multiple people were injured in the crash, but only one has died as a result of those injuries. It was ultimately determined that the truck driver was responsible for the crash, and warrants have been issued for his arrest. Authorities are filing multiple charges against the driver of the…

2 Injured in Truck Accident

Cell phones and other electronic devices are the causes of multiple car accidents in Georgia and across the nation every day. Often, these accidents occur on major roadways and interstates. However, residents of Milton were recently reminded that these crashes can occur in residential areas as well when a truck accident left two people injured. The accident occurred on a local road when a commercial dump truck lost control and struck a stone mailbox as well as another vehicle. The driver of the dump truck had apparently looked away from the road to check the GPS on his phone, and when he did so, the truck dropped off of the side of the road. When he attempted to correct the vehicle, he hit the mailbox. The vehicle then slid sideways across the double yellow line and struck a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were taken…

Truck Accident Causes One Death and Multiple Injuries

It can sometimes be unnerving for Georgia drivers to navigate the roadways with large commercial trucks. Often, drivers will move over to the next lane when they see one pulled over to the side of the road in order to prevent a truck accident. Unfortunately, drivers are not always able to move over, or they are otherwise distracted, and accidents still occur. Such an accident occurred on Interstate 75 when a rental moving truck crashed into a larger truck that was pulled over in the emergency lane. The driver of the truck, which was hauling combustible material, had pulled over into the right emergency lane to fix a flat tire. The rental truck was driving southbound and veered into the emergency lane, clipping the driver's side of the stopped vehicle. After colliding with the truck, the rental truck then crashed into a passenger van, which flipped and landed upside down on the road's left shoulder. Authorities…

1 Killed and 1 Injured in Truck Accident

Georgia drivers know that driving next to a semi-truck can be unnerving. They are easily the largest vehicles on the road, and they have notoriously large blind spots. Therefore, the drivers of these trucks have to be even more vigilant about following driving laws. Unfortunately, not all truck drivers adhere to these laws, and the result is too often a fatal truck accident. On the evening of Sept. 27, Georgia State Patrol responded to a crash involving a semi-truck and a car. The car held two passengers, the driver, and a child. The driver was killed in the crash, and the child was reportedly taken to Archbold Medical Center. Reports also say that the child was in critical condition. The crash occurred on Maddox Road and State Route 188. Authorities say that the driver of the semi-truck failed to yield upon exiting a private driveway. The truck crashed into the…
