A woman is dead following a head-on crash late on Aug. 13, according to the Department of Transportation. The Georgia State Patrol investigated the car accident that claimed the life of a 36-year-old woman. Two other people were taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Given the details of the case, it appears charges will not be filed against the injured driver, but the investigation is still underway as of this report. According to the accident report, the woman was headed southbound on Georgia 247 when, for reasons unknown, her vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The car accident occurred on Georgia 247 late on the evening of Aug. 13 and involved two vehicles. Using drugs and driving simply don't mix. Law enforcement deals with DUI car accidents on a seemingly daily basis. One Georgia police detective may have ignored the lessons he may have learned on the job, as he was recently arrested for DUI following a car accident. The detective was off-duty and in his personal vehicle on a weekend afternoon when his car went off the road and onto a sidewalk. A pedestrian was hit but not critically injured. The detective stayed on the scene until police and emergency responders arrived. The injured victim was taken to a local hospital after complaining of leg pain.
