Action-packed television shows are among the most popular today. The audience members sit on the edge of their seats as they watch their favorite characters stand up to villains or fend off zombies. However, many viewers may not think about how these amazing shows are made. Actors put hours of work into creating the characters that audiences come to love, and their stuntmen put their bodies on the line to bring the action sequences to life. Even with the safety precautions taken by the production, a stuntman was killed while filming the show "The Walking Dead" in Georgia, and his mother has since filed a wrongful death suit. The stuntman died several months ago from injuries he suffered while performing a fall during filming. In the suit, the 33-year-old actor's mother claims that a low budget was responsible for what she claims were insufficient safety standards. she alleges that the pressure to…

2 Die in Macon Car Accident

Winter can be an unpredictable time of year, even for those living in the south. Within the last few years, snow has become a more common occurrence in Georgia. Even though the snow usually lasts only a few days, it's effect on roadways and traffic can be extreme. It is not uncommon for drivers who are not accustomed to driving in snow and ice on a regular basis to be involved in a car accident. Recently, snow and ice effectively shut down businesses and schools across Georgia and caused a number of accidents on interstate roadways. One of these accidents occurred on I-75 North. A car containing two individuals slid on a patch of black ice and struck a guardrail. The driver exited the vehicle in what authorities suspect was an effort to survey the damage to the car or view the road conditions. The driver of an approaching car…

Teenager Dies in Car Accident on His Way to a Funeral

Nearly everyone has had to attend a funeral at some point in his or her life. They are emotionally charged events, which can be difficult for many to attend. However, many people begin grieving before the funeral is even scheduled, and the time leading up to the funeral itself can be incredibly difficult. In Georgia, one father was unfortunate enough to witness the car accident that claimed the life of one of his sons and injured the other while they were on their way to the funeral of another family member. The accident occurred between two vehicles early one afternoon on GA 247. One car was driven by a 20-year-old Macon resident, and the other vehicle contained the victim and his brother. The brothers were following their father's car to the funeral of their aunt at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, the father witnessed the accident through the rearview mirror of…

Car Accident Kills Woman Who Exited Her Vehicle on the Interstate

When drivers are involved in an accident one of their first instincts may be to exit the vehicle and survey the damage or get away from the vehicle. A car accident that occurred on I-75 in Georgia underscores that this reaction can have tragic results. In light of the tragic accident, authorities have attempted to emphasize the importance of staying inside of the vehicle after an accident so long as it remains safe to do so. The initial accident that began the deadly chain of events involved only two vehicles. A car rear-ended a pickup truck, with the car then facing the wrong way on the interstate. The truck did not stop, but the driver later contacted authorities to say that he kept driving because there did not seem to be any major damage to his vehicle. However, the car facing the wrong way on the interstate was struck by another vehicle and…

Man killed in motorcycle accident in Columbia County

For experienced motorists in Georgia and other states, many traffic laws are second nature. Unfortunately, some people have made a bad habit of ignoring certain laws or overlooking them in certain situations. Failure to follow these laws can have terrible results, especially if a motorcycle is involved. It isn't unusual for a motorcycle accident to result in injuries or death because the riders have significantly less protection than a driver in a car. Recently, a 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident involving his motorcycle and an SUV. His motorcycle, traveling south, was struck by the SUV, traveling north, when the SUV driver attempted to make a left-hand turn. The collision caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from his bike. When authorities arrived, they had the motorcyclist transported to Doctors Hospital. He was pronounced dead on the evening of Dec. 21. The woman driving the SUV was charged with failure to yield…

Options for Fighting Your SSD Denial

For disabled individuals, Social Security disability payments are quite beneficial. In fact, for some individuals, they are necessary to maintain a decent standard of living. If you received a denial after applying for SSD, it may be for reconcilable reasons. In such cases, you have a couple of choices for fighting your denial. Appeal The appeal process tends to be the more successful means for getting a new determination for an SSD claim. With an appeal, a local court reviews the submission to make a new decision. In many cases individuals make an accidental error, such as not providing certain information, that results in the denial. With a new claim, you are able to submit documentation and evidence to support…

2 Injured in Truck Accident

Cell phones and other electronic devices are the causes of multiple car accidents in Georgia and across the nation every day. Often, these accidents occur on major roadways and interstates. However, residents of Milton were recently reminded that these crashes can occur in residential areas as well when a truck accident left two people injured. The accident occurred on a local road when a commercial dump truck lost control and struck a stone mailbox as well as another vehicle. The driver of the dump truck had apparently looked away from the road to check the GPS on his phone, and when he did so, the truck dropped off of the side of the road.
