The original crash occurred in November of last year and involved 11 vehicles, including a tractor-trailer. Multiple people were injured in the crash, but only one has died as a result of those injuries. It was ultimately determined that the truck driver was responsible for the crash, and warrants have been issued for his arrest.
Authorities are filing multiple charges against the driver of the tractor-trailer. These charges include homicide by vehicle in the second degree, following too close, and traveling too fast for conditions. The accident remains under investigation.
Because transfer trucks are so large and difficult to stop on short notice, accidents involving these vehicles can have tragic results. Georgia residents who have been involved in a truck accident could benefit from speaking with an attorney in their area. Lawyers may be able to help victims to receive compensation for medical costs or property damages related to the accident. If the crash caused the death of the victim, then an attorney may also be able to help the family to receive compensation for funeral costs.
