The accident occurred on I-75 and involved two vehicles, a motorcycle, and a small four-door vehicle. Upon exiting the interstate, the driver of the car continued across the highway and struck a southwest-bound motorcycle. It was determined that the vehicle driver was attempting to re-enter the interstate. The motorcyclist was struck by the front driver’s side door of the car.
Sadly, the motorcyclist died as a result of his injuries. Authorities are still investigating other possible causes of the crash. The driver of the car may face multiple charges pending the results of the investigation.
For many motorcyclists, spring is a favorite time to ride. However, busy roadways like interstates and highways can be especially hazardous to motorcycle riders because they do not have the same amount of protection that the drivers of other vehicles have. In a motorcycle accident, there is often little more than padded clothing and a helmet between the cyclist and the road or other vehicles involved in the crash. Georgia residents who have been involved in such an accident could benefit from speaking with an attorney. Victims or their families may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses and property damages, as well as for funeral costs if the crash resulted in the death of an individual.
