Initial investigations by police reveal a 41-year-old man driving a Chevrolet SUV ran a red light and crashed into a Toyota SUV going through the intersection. The Chevrolet bounced off the Toyota, left the road and ran into a tree before stopping. One passenger in the vehicle died upon impact, and another died once he arrived at a nearby hospital.
Injuries to the occupants of the Toyota were not serious, and the driver of the Chevrolet was released from the hospital after treatment. Police then arrested him and charged him with DUI and vehicular homicide, among others. Information on bail or sentencing was not given.
When an accident caused by drunk driving takes away a beloved family member, there are decisions that will have to be made. These may include funeral and burial arrangements, how to meet future financial requirements, or possibly having to determine placement for surviving family members, such as young children. Trying to figure it all out on top of grieving can be overwhelming. A monetary award granted from a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a Georgia attorney can help ease some of the burden as clients learn to live in changed circumstances.
