A young child was recently killed by a falling mirror while shopping for shoes with her family. The child was looking at some of the store’s merchandise when the family reportedly heard a crash. One of the store’s full-length mirrors was not properly secured and had fallen onto the little girl.
Among the witnesses was one of the victim’s older cousins. He told reporters that before the paramedics arrived his cousin had lost a significant amount of blood and was suffering from internal injuries. Since the accident, the store has brought in professionals to repair the mirror.
These accidents can often occur without warning, as was the case here. The fact that the mirror was not properly secured seems to have escaped notice until after the accident occurred. However, in fatal accidents like this, a simple apology may not be enough for the family members left behind. Georgia residents who believe that their loved one’s death was the result of a preventable accident may wish to discuss filing a wrongful death suit with a local attorney. The surviving family members may be entitled to compensation for the funeral or medical costs.
