These accidents, while always terrible occurrences, are made worse when lives are lost. Such was the case in Georgia on August 24th around 4 a.m. when a motorcyclist was struck by a car at an intersection. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities speculate that the victim, a local bartender for a Vietnamese-Creole restaurant, was stopped at the intersection when he was struck from behind by an SUV. The collision caused the motorcycle and its driver to be dragged for several feet and knocked into the intersection. After arriving on the scene, authorities closed the road and rerouted traffic until the scene was cleared later that morning. The driver of the at-fault vehicle remained on the scene and was taken into custody. He was later charged with DUI and vehicular homicide.
Thursday’s drunk driving accident created not just one victim, but many. The family and friends of the victim mourn his loss each day. Those left behind by fatal drunk driving accidents could benefit greatly from speaking to a professional about their rights and about what compensation they may be owed.
