Head-on collisions are terrifying to imagine, and even more so to be involved in. Not surprisingly, these crashes often result in serious injuries or death. Georgia authorities are currently investigating the underlying cause of one such car accident. The accident involved two vehicles, a northbound car, and a southbound pickup truck. As she approached a curve in the road, the northbound driver crossed over the center line into the southbound lane, where she crashed into the oncoming truck. Georgia drivers are no strangers to pop-up storms and slippery roads, and most drivers take care to drive slowly when the roads are hazardous. However, sometimes drivers are not as careful as they should be and accidents can occur. Recently a driver hydroplaned on a slippery road and collided with a school bus. This car accident resulted in several injuries and the death of one child. The accident was a head-on collision between a small vehicle and a school bus carrying 19 students, in addition to the bus driver. It occurred on the morning of May 16. While traveling northbound, the car hit a puddle of standing water on the road and hydroplaned. This caused the driver to cross over the center line where it struck the southbound bus. A crash between a car and a motorcycle can be devastating for all of the people involved in the accident. If the people involved are lucky then the accident only results in minor injuries, but it may be more likely in this type of scenario for serious or fatal injuries to occur. Earlier this month Georgia authorities responded to a motorcycle accident that ultimately caused the death of one individual. The accident occurred on Sunday, May 6 around 1 p.m. between a car and a motorcycle. The car was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line and struck the westbound bike. It is unknown why the car breached the centerline, and the crash is still under investigation. Unfortunately, the 74-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured in the crash. Summer is nearly here, and Georgia residents know that with summer come numerous thunderstorms. Pop up showers and day-long storms can make roadways hazardous if drivers are not careful. Last Tuesday, on April 24, slippery roads and a driver's recklessness resulted in a car accident that caused the death of another driver. Reports say that the crash involved three vehicles, two pickup trucks, and an SUV. One of the trucks was traveling westbound, and the other two vehicles were traveling east. The westbound truck crossed the center line and struck the second pickup and then the SUV. Both the SUV and the first truck eventually came to a stop on the shoulder of the road. Most drivers, at some point, have experienced the feeling of being temporarily blinded by another vehicle's headlights or by the glare of light reflecting off of another surface. On the evening of Sunday, April 1, the driver of a car was caught unawares by a glare. The driver reacted to it, and a motorcyclist crashed into the larger vehicle. A passenger was riding on the back of the motorcycle, and she was thrown from the vehicle. She was caught between the two vehicles and then dragged by a third. As the weather begins to warm up, motorcyclists across the country are hitting the road. This also means that other drivers, as well as the cyclists, must be mindful of their surroundings. Unfortunately, a lack of attention recently contributed to a motorcycle accident in Georgia that resulted in one death. The accident occurred on I-75 and involved two vehicles, a motorcycle, and a small four-door vehicle. Upon exiting the interstate, the driver of the car continued across the highway and struck a southwest-bound motorcycle. It was determined that the vehicle driver was attempting to re-enter the interstate. The motorcyclist was struck by the front driver's side door of the car. Sadly, the motorcyclist died as a result of his injuries. Authorities are still investigating other possible causes of the crash.
