Hit-And-Run Car Accident Leaves Georgia Man Injured

Driving on any Georgia road can be dangerous if other drivers are not cautious and alert. However, if a car accident should occur, one might expect the other driver to stop and render aid or at least check on the condition of anyone in the other vehicle. A recent collision in Georgia demonstrates that accident victims cannot always rely on this. Sometime before 4 a.m. on a recent Sunday, a man driving north in the right lane on Highway 316 noticed another vehicle approaching from behind. It was still dark, and the other vehicle's headlights shone in the driver's rear-view mirror. He expected the other vehicle to pass and was shocked when it allegedly struck his own vehicle, sending it spinning off the road. The man reported that he felt his vehicle flipping numerous times before he lost consciousness. The other driver apparently continued without stopping. The injured man regained consciousness…

Family Explains Struggle Following Truck Accident

Hard-working Georgia families do their best to get by, and sometimes an emergency situation can put an enormous burden on finances, schedules, and relationships within the family unit. One family recently shared their story about how a truck accident turned their lives upside-down. Now uncertain about the future and struggling to keep afloat, the family's plight illustrates how one accident can affect multiple lives. The ordeal began when a Georgia man, husband, and father of two, locked up the store where he was employed and began to walk home one evening in June 2019. Still unable to recall exactly what transpired next, the man relies on the word of Georgia State Patrol officers that tell him he was struck by a truck along a local road. His wife was notified and she rushed to the hospital, where she found her bruised and broken husband lying helpless. After months in the hospital and…

Head-On Car Accident Claims One Life

A woman is dead following a head-on crash late on Aug. 13, according to the Department of Transportation. The Georgia State Patrol investigated the car accident that claimed the life of a 36-year-old woman. Two other people were taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Given the details of the case, it appears charges will not be filed against the injured driver, but the investigation is still underway as of this report. According to the accident report, the woman was headed southbound on Georgia 247 when, for reasons unknown, her vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. This caused her vehicle to strike a northbound vehicle head-on, with enough force to kill her. She was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving medical authorities. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle, who have not been identified publicly by police, were taken to a local hospital. It…

Arrest Made Following Fatal Accident in Georgia

Most drivers in Georgia go to great lengths to ensure that they are following all traffic laws to protect both their personal safety as well as the safety of others they may encounter. Unfortunately, it may be impossible for even the safest of drivers to avoid the negligent acts of others. For example, a fatal accident involving a tire on a tractor-trailer recently resulted in a woman's death. The incident happened on a day in mid-August. According to reports, a 31-year-old man from out of state was driving a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75. Two wheels on the tractor-trailer apparently came off one of the axles of the truck. One of the tires flew across a concrete median and struck a southbound sports utility vehicle. Law enforcement officers claim that the tire took most of the top of the vehicle off. The 36-year-old driver of the SUV, a…

Wrongful Death: Georgia Man Faces Criminal Charges in Train Crash

Drivers in Georgia likely come across a variety of different flashing lights, warning signs, and other precautions to protect their safety. Unfortunately, some people may choose to ignore these signs or fail to see them, potentially placing their own lives at risk as well as the lives of their passengers or others in the area. In fact, a recent fatal accident in Georgia -- which could ultimately result in a wrongful death lawsuit -- appears to illustrate the potential dangers of failing to obey flashing lights. The incident happened just before 7 a.m. on a day in early August. According to reports, a 45-year-old man drove a van onto train tracks. The man allegedly ignored several warnings that a train was coming. Reports indicate that the intersection was equipped with several safety tools, including crossbucks, lights, gates, and bells. Video of the incident reportedly shows the man leaving the van just…

Car Wrecks Caused by Seniors in Georgia 5th Highest in US

Though a driver of any age can be involved in a car crash, some drivers may have more risk factors than others. A recent study claims that, here in Georgia, senior citizens have a higher risk of being in car wrecks than in most of the rest of the nation, ranking fifth on the list. There are several reasons why this may be the case. Older people's cognitive and physical abilities can decline due to age, making it more difficult for them to safely operate a vehicle. Experts say that families should watch for certain behaviors that may indicate that an elderly loved one should stop driving. If a loved one has increased difficulty hearing or seeing, cannot follow a conversation, or has difficulty with motor skills, it may be best for everyone to convince the individual to stop driving. Also, if families notice that the older person's vehicle has…

Drunk Driving Suspected in Fatal Georgia Crash

The dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol are well-publicized. Despite the efforts made by government and advocacy groups, there are people in Georgia and across the country who still get behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence. In fact, a woman is now accused of drunk driving following a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a bicyclist. The incident happened during the morning hours of a day in mid-July. According to reports, a 34-year-old woman was southbound when her vehicle collided with a bicycle. The 29-year-old male cyclist died upon impact. Police say that the driver involved was under the influence at the time of the accident. As a result, she is charged with DUI, driving while unlicensed, and homicide by vehicle. Law enforcement officials are still investigating the accident. She was denied bond at a hearing that was held in…

Two Dead in Drunk Driving Accident

The pain from losing a loved one because of a driver who is under the influence lasts a lifetime. Having to learn to live without someone because of a drunk driving accident can be difficult in so many ways, including the loss of economic provision and the loss of companionship. Two people were killed in a drunk driving accident, and Georgia police have arrested the man they say caused the fatalities. Initial investigations by police reveal a 41-year-old man driving a Chevrolet SUV ran a red light and crashed into a Toyota SUV going through the intersection. The Chevrolet bounced off the Toyota, left the road and ran into a tree before stopping. One passenger in the vehicle died upon impact, and another died once he arrived at a nearby hospital. Injuries to the occupants of the Toyota were not serious, and the driver of the Chevrolet was released from the…

On behalf of Dozier Law Firm, LLC posted in Car Accidents on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Most people are aware of there is a potential chance of being involved in an accident while driving. Those involved in an accident are required to remain at the scene. Rescue workers responded to the scene during the early morning hours of a day in July. According to reports, a 19-year-old was discovered lying in the road. He was transported to the hospital and listed in serious condition. Police believe that the teen was struck by a vehicle, and the driver of that vehicle left. However, an investigator allegedly discovered the identity of the driver and located the vehicle believed to have been involved in the days following the accident. The driver, also a 19-year-old male, is charged…
