Man Facing Charges After Woman’s Death in Car Accident

It does not take but a moment's distraction for a motor vehicle to cause some serious damage. Just a split second of taking eyes off the road can result in a car accident where someone is killed or critically injured. A Georgia man faces numerous charges concerning a car accident that claimed the life of a 42-year-old woman. The woman was headed west in her sedan when an SUV traveling east crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic. The head-on collision killed the woman. The SUV driver and his female passenger were also injured and taken to an area medical facility, but they are both expected to make a complete recovery. The man turned himself in to the county authorities and has been charged with reckless driving, vehicular homicide and improper use of a seat belt. Reportedly, there are other unspecified charges pending against him. At the time of a report on the accident,…

Drunk Driving Said to be Cause of Man’s Death

Stories consistently make the news headlines about people who have lost their lives too soon due to some type of accident. Often, those accidents are caused by drunk driving. A Georgia man who had completed medical school and was looking forward to a career in physical therapy died at the age of 26. The tragedy has been blamed on drunk driving. The University of Georgia graduate was on his way home from a training class when another driver, who police say had been drinking, crashed into him. The victim's car was so badly damaged that the door had to be cut at the hinges so emergency responders could remove him. He was rushed to an area hospital, but he died two days later. Police at the scene reported the other driver was unsteady on his feet, and his speech was slurred. Despite police finding cans of unopened beer in his pickup…

Grand Jury Indictment in Fatal Car Accident Case

Caution on the road is imperative these days, as the potential for an accident is present or at any time of the day or night. That potential for a fatal car accident increases with the number of people who consume alcohol or drugs and then get behind the wheel. A Georgia woman was recently indicted by a grand jury for killing three adults in a fatal car accident. The 59-year-old woman was transporting four people to their assisted-living facility nearly 10 months ago when she ran off the road in her SUV. The vehicle crossed three lanes, ran off the road and hit the side of a ditch before flipping over. Three of her passengers died at the scene from the impact and she and a fourth passenger were seriously injured. They were air-lifted to a hospital 30 miles away from the accident. Responding police say they found cocaine in the driver's…

Alleged Drunk Driving Cause for Woman’s Arrest

Georgia police see numerous bizarre behavior patterns when making traffic stops. In their efforts to keep the roads safe for all drivers, they find many stops are made because of drunk driving. A state trooper recently responded to a drunk driving incident and made an arrest. Emergency personnel were already on the scene when the officer arrived to find the driver of a vehicle asleep behind the wheel. The car was stopped at a traffic light around midnight and there were, in addition to the driver, three older, handicapped passengers inside. When the driver awoke and got out of her vehicle, police saw she had soiled herself and noticed there was a strong smell of alcohol coming from inside the car. Police reports claim the driver seemed disoriented. She could not maintain her balance and she admitted she had been drinking, but would not take a field sobriety test. Some investigation revealed…

Drunk Driving Incident Sends 3 to Hospital

It does not matter what time of day or night or whether a person is walking or driving, a roadway can be a site of extreme peril when alcohol consumption is a factor. Accidents caused by drunk driving may cause minimal damage to other vehicles or people, or they may be catastrophic with fatalities and/or severe injuries. Police in a Georgia town have arrested a 59-year-old man for drunk driving after his vehicle struck three pedestrians. Reports state the 2 p.m. incident began with the man turned his Jaguar onto a residential street, ran off the road and then hit one of the houses. He backed away from the scene, continued along the street and made another turn when he hit two pedestrians walking in the crosswalk. He continued a short distance and hit an SUV parked on the street. The force of that collision shoved the SUV into a third pedestrian.…

Woman Seeks Justice After Car Accident Injuries

Everyone can make a mistake, but that does not excuse carelessness while operating a motor vehicle. Should that carelessness lead to a car accident that causes the injury or death of another person, the driver could be financially accountable and may be subject to a civil lawsuit. Sometimes, criminal charges apply as well. A Georgia woman was injured in a car accident and is seeking justice that the local police department claims it will not enforce. The woman says she was in the parking lot of a retail store after making a purchase and returning to her car when another car backed out of its parking space and hit her. She claims the two of them made eye contact before the man began to drive in reverse. Not only did the car knock her to the ground, but the woman claims the driver ran over one of her legs before driving away. A dash…

Woman Files Lawsuit After Son Injured in Car Accident

The negligence of one person can have a ripple effect, resulting in adverse consequences for a number of people. One person not paying attention to what he or she is doing while driving can lead to permanent injury, death, and even lawsuits. A Georgia woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit after her son was seriously injured in a car accident. Just over two years ago, the woman was turning off a highway into a private driveway when a school bus slammed into the rear of the car behind her, pushing that car into the rear of her vehicle. A report did not detail all of the injuries to the woman's son, only that there were several, including traumatic injury to his brain. There was also no mention of the child's present mental and physical condition. The attorney the woman retained has requested a jury trial to determine damages for all…

Freak Car Accident Kills Woman Walking Her Dog

Many vehicular accidents can be avoided, simply by keeping cars and trucks properly maintained. Some car accidents may be attributed to faulty manufacturing and no recall on the parts involved, but some can be the result of owner irresponsibility for improper care of their vehicle. A car accident involving a loose tire resulted in the death of a Georgia pedestrian. The 22-year-old woman left her house around 9 p.m. to walk her dog. Her family grew concerned when she did not return from a walk that normally took around 20 minutes. When her dog came home without her nearly 45 minutes later, they went to look for her and found her lying on the ground, face-down. Emergency personnel transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Police determined the woman had been hit in the head with a tire from a vehicle that had been traveling on the road…

Man Sentenced After Causing Death of Friend in Car Accident

Although it seems most drivers charged with DUI are younger, there is not an age limit to this type offense. Anyone of any age who drinks, drives and causes a car accident that results in death or serious injuries can be sentenced to serve time in jail, time on probation and/or be subject to other penalties. Meanwhile, there are numerous families facing futures without someone they love because of the negligent choices of others. A Georgia man has been sentenced for causing the death of a friend in a car accident because he chose to drive drunk. Nearly two years ago, the 61-year-old man chose to drive, not only after he had been drinking but also after he had taken an antihistamine that only served to increase the magnitude of his impairment. According to investigation reports, he was going nearly 50 mph over the posted speed limit when his car went off…

Drunk Driving Allegedly Cause of Young Girl’s Death

To lose a loved one is hard on family and friends. To suddenly lose that family member because someone else decided to drink and drive is heartbreaking. Despite all the efforts to stamp out drunk driving, it remains a critical problem. One family will face the holidays without the exuberance of an 11-year-old girl who was recently killed as a result of drunk driving, according to Georgia police. Police say a 27-year-old woman who had been drinking collided with another car. Inside that car were the young girl, her mother and her sister. The little girl was thrown from the car. She was rushed to the Children's Hospital of Georgia after emergency personnel reached the scene. The next morning, she succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, the other driver fled the scene in her car and crashed into another vehicle not far away. Police were able to apprehend her and charged her with…
