On the evening of Sunday, April 1, the driver of a car was caught unawares by a glare. The driver reacted to it, and a motorcyclist crashed into the larger vehicle. A passenger was riding on the back of the motorcycle, and she was thrown from the vehicle. She was caught between the two vehicles and then dragged by a third.
Unfortunately, the motorcycle passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities determined that the driver of the motorcycle was following the car too closely when the accident occurred. A portion of I-20 traffic was closed and redirected for several hours after the collision. It is said that criminal charges are now pending.
Some things are unavoidable when driving, like a glare reflecting off of another surface. However, these things can sometimes cause a driver to react unexpectedly, and if the other nearby drivers are not following the traffic laws or are not paying attention to their surroundings then the possibility of a crash can increase. If a motorcycle accident occurs then the injuries can be especially severe since motorcyclists and their passengers have less protection than the driver and passengers inside of a car. Victims of accidents in Georgia (or the surviving families of deceased victims) that resulted in injuries or death may wish to consult with an attorney. They may be entitled to compensation for medical costs, property damages, and other documented financial losses.
