Wrongful Death Claim Can Be Filed in Hit-and-Run Case

The 66-year-old man was in his own yard when a vehicle, suspected to be a silver Infiniti and going too fast for the weather conditions at the time, hit him and his dog. Both the man and the dog were killed instantly. Later in the day and less than a mile away, police found the vehicle they believed to be used in the hit-and-run accident.

Police discovered the owner of the vehicle was in jail but used various means, including surveillance videos, to identify a suspect. They have not yet located her but are asking the public for assistance in their search. Once apprehended she will be facing numerous charges, including vehicular homicide, hit-and-run, and cruelty to animals.

If convicted, the woman will most likely face the consequences of her actions with time in jail, significant fines, and other consequences. The man’s family may also file a wrongful death civil action against her, with any money awarded going toward expenses related to the funeral and burial and other monetary damages. Those in Georgia who have experienced similar losses can speak to an experienced personal injury attorney in order to pursue all available options for legal recourse.

Wonderful law firm that cares

I was injured in a terrible fall which left my foot, arm back and knee badly bruised. The Dozier Law Firm was awesome. Attorney Dustin Hamilton reviewed and accepted my case and within a few months he was able to settle my case for more than I ever imagine. The Dozier Law Firm is A+ in my book.
